Game Pitch Night

Event Log and Summary

Starters

ThoughtWorks (possibly inspired by Skunk Works) helps people solve problems technically and is strong on social and economic justice. Tasty sandwiches were made by the event host’s wife. I thought that was very thoughtful.

Game Pitch Night

Presentation

The maker of Ferr2D undertook a 52-games-per-year endeavor. He stopped on the 3rd week and decided he preferred building tools for game development. He built game state managers, skill trees, spawning systems and so on. He strongly believes that tools pay back tremendously, a sentiment I agree with.

The presentation mostly went over some workflow techniques including:

  • Daily planning
  • Estimate project cost and plan around weakness
  • Schedule with consistency
  • Eliminate mobile notifications
