Shin Megami Tensei Generalizations

General Patterns

The Shin Megami Tensei series (often shortened to MegaTen or SMT) is infamous for a huge dataset of monsters. What I find interesting is an emerging pattern of attribute relationships; it could be the blueprint for emergent visual puzzles.

Moves and Spells

Attack (physical): very few are weak to attack

Gun: bird-like demons (not all winged creatures but especially feathers)

Agi (fire): plant/paper/wood (combustible) demons, zombies/corpses, sometimes bufu-casters

Bufu (ice): demons with fire on them (think extinguishing), cat-like demons, sometimes agi-casters

Zio (electric): winged demons (insect wings, sometimes feathers), sometimes zan/garu casters

Zan, Garu (force, wind): generally zio-casters

Hama (light, expel): undead, demonic, lore-based villains

Mudo (dark, curse): angelic, lore-based heroes

Dormina (sleep): cat-likes, soldiers or brutes, generally magic immune

Shibaboo (bind): lored-based proud warriors
